HDM has been designing and developing molds (for both plastic injection molding and die casting components) for the past 42 years under the expertise of Mr. P. Rajan. The design department is headed by Mr. Radhakrishnan, who has more than 17 years of experience in designing and developing molds. With the backup of such highly skilled technical expertise, HDM follows a rigorous design process to develop molds for complicated parts. First step in our design process is to understand the customers’ tooling and manufacturing requirements. This requires extensive knowledge base of not only the mold design but also the injection molding/die casting process.
The design team assesses the part design and make modifications and recommendations based on key product requirements including product usage and function. The design process has sufficient checks and balances with a standardized mold design checklist which can be customized as per the customers’ requirement. To come up the most optimum mold design in terms of customer requirements like size, cycle time and maintenance, the designers conduct mold design reviews, DFM and mold flow analysis. The design department consists of four highly experienced designers trained in tool and die design. The design team is equipped with state-of-the-art CAD/CAM software including AUTOCAD, DELCAM and UNIGRAPHICS. The design team at HDM is equipped with state-of-the-art CAD/CAM software and is very well versed with ISO 8015 standards for GD & T.
